Overview
Offline mode in Passwork is available only under an Advanced license.
Offline access lets users prepare selected items in advance for viewing without a connection to Passwork. It is not a standalone copy of all data and not a separate local server: only items added by the user to offline access and successfully synchronized are stored on the device.
Purpose
Offline access is intended for situations when Passwork is unavailable to the user: no internet access, VPN is down, the server is under maintenance, or the network is temporarily unreachable.
The user adds the required items to offline access in advance and enables offline mode on the device. After successful synchronization, items in the Offline section can be opened in the desktop application without access to Passwork.
How it works
- The user opens Passwork and works in online mode.
- The required items are added to offline access.
- In the Offline section, the user enables the mode for the current device.
- Passwork synchronizes the list of offline items and saves them locally.
- If the server becomes unavailable during an online session, the application shows a connection check window.
- The user can retry the connection, switch to offline mode, or log out.
- In offline mode, only previously synchronized items from the Offline section are available.
- After the connection is restored, Passwork synchronizes view events and updates the local copy.
Main limitations
- Offline access works only in Passwork mobile and desktop apps and only on the device where it was enabled.
- Only items that were added to offline access and synchronized in advance are available.
- Without a network connection, items are available for viewing only.
- Creating, editing, deleting, and changing items is available only in online mode.
- Attachments are not saved locally and are unavailable without a connection to Passwork.
- Action history and Editions are not cached for offline viewing.
- Access is limited by role settings: the maximum number of items and the validity period without synchronization.
